Mahindra XUV300 will be the name of the company's all-new subcompact SUV, reveal sources close to the company. Known as the S201 so far, the new XUV300 is based on the SsangYong Tivoli and will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Ford EcoSport. The new Mahindra XUV300 will be the third sub-4 metre SUV from the home-grown utility vehicle manufacturer, after the TUV300 and the lesser popular NuvoSport, and this new one will be positioned above both the SUVs. The new Mahindra XUV300 is expected to be launched in sometime in early 2019.
Mahindra will be officially announcing the name of the SUV later today along with more details on the design and styling of the SUV. While most of the styling bits have been carried over from the Tivoli, however, Mahindra will be making some considerable styling updates, mainly the rear section. The cabin too is expected to see some updated to for the India-spec model. The SUV will also carry over some of the offerings of the Tivoli, like - projector headlamps, LED DRLs, alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment system, sunroof, auto climate control with dual-zone function, cruise control and more. The SUV will also be the first-in-class to get all four disc brakes.
Mahindra will be offering the new SUV300 in both petrol and diesel engine options. This includes the 1.5-litre diesel unit that is likely to make around 120 bhp, while there will also be the newly developed 1.2-litre G80 turbocharged petrol engine on offer. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and possibly an AMT too. In addition, the Mahindra S201 will be loaded on safety tech complete with dual front airbags, ABS, ESP, rear parking sensors, four disc brakes and more.
