The all-new Tata Harrier has been launched today in India at a starting price of Rs. 12.69 lakh and the top variant has been priced at Rs. 16.25 lakh, all prices ex-showroom, Delhi. It's been one of the highly anticipated launches right from the time when Tata Motors had showcased it in the form of the H5X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The popularity has also helped the new Tata Harrier SUV to garner a long waiting period of three months as Tata Motors has received enough bookings for the Harrier and is overwhelmed by customers' response.

carandbike had exclusively reported that the Tata Motors had started accepting bookings for the Harrier on October 15, 2018 at a token of Rs. 30,000 and were planning to start the deliveries within a month of the launch. The long waiting period is the result of the number of bookings the Indian automaker has received in the last three months. Tata has also assigned separate sales executives to brief potential customers about the SUV. Moreover, the company has select mechanics that are trained to service the Harrier.

Now that it has been launched, the Tata Harrier will be playing a flagship role in the Tata Motors line-up. It is underpinned by the Land Rover sourced OMEGA Arc platform and also debuts Tata's new IMPACT 2.0 design language that future Tata models based on the OMEGA and the Architecture Modular Platform (AMP) will also carry. On the inside, the Harrier gets premium upholstery and features an 8.8-inch floating infotainment screen which has a high-resolution display and supports smartphone connectivity along with being linked to nine JBL speakers and a JBL amplifier for sound output. Moreover, even the base variant of the all-new Tata Harrier is laden with features like LED Daytime Running Lamps, Powered ORVMs and height adjustable driver's seat.

The Tata Harrier is powered by the Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that Tata claims is built on the low friction valve train architecture for better refinement and efficiency. This engine churns out 138 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Tata Motors is also planning to add an automatic variant at a later date and will be sourcing the automatic gearbox from Hyundai. Like the Hexa, even the Harrier gets multi-drive modes which are coupled with a terrain response system.
