Renault India has finally released the name of its upcoming compact 7-seater, which will be called the Renault Triber. The company has posted a 'Coming Soon' banner on its official website with the hashtag 'Be The Tribe'. While the website says that the MPV is based on a new platform, we are pretty sure it's based on a modified CMF-A platform. The CMF-A platform spawns the Kwid and the company has confirmed the new MPV will be positioned in India between the Kwid and Renault's SUV offerings.
Prototype models of the upcoming Renault Triber have been undergoing testing in India for a while now, and we have already shared several spy photos with you. In fact, the website also mentions that the new MPV is slated to be launched in India in the second half of 2019. Renault has said that the new compact 7-seater has been designed and developed for the Indian market and will be launched as a new segment.
Based in the test mules we have seen so far, the 7-seater model will come with compact proportions but we doubt it will be a sub-4 metre like the Datsun GO+. Renault has claimed that the new model will be spacious and ultra modular car will offer 'best-in-class space with first-of-its-kind modularity'.
