The much awaited MG Hector SUV is all set to make its official debut in India later today will it will the first offering from the Chinese-owned British brand in the country. The MG Hector is a premium compact SUV and is expected to boast of several connectivity features along with a highly modern powertrain and creature comforts. The SUV has been teased multiple times now, while the exterior was revealed recently in images. In fact, production of the Hector also commenced earlier this month at the automaker's new facility in Halol, Gujarat. MG will be revealing the interior and technical specifications on its first offering for India at the event today.

With respect to the design, the MG Hector looks premium and well-equipped, offering features like low-set LED projector headlamps, a larger black mesh grille, high mounted LED daytime running lamps and a wide central airdam. The grille and the headlamps assembly are bordered by brushed silver inserts, which in the case of the top-end model will be chrome.
The MG Hector will also be one of the first connected cars to be launched in India equipped with the i-Smart next-generation system. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) based completely integrated solution combines software, hardware, connectivity, services and application and comes with advanced features like - smart application, built-in Apps, Real-Time Navigation, Remote Location, Geo-Fencing, Emergency Response and much more. It also comes with pre-loaded apps including TomTom IQ Maps, Gaana Premium, and AccuWeather app, in addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Like a smartphone, the system also over-the-air (OTA) downloads function to keep the software up-to-date.
Power on the new MG Hector is expected to from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The latter being the Fiat-sourced oil burner that was introduced in the Jeep Compass. Transmission options could include both manual and automatic option. The Hector will also compete against the Compass in the segment, while also locking horns against the Hyundai Tucson, the upcoming Kia SP2i SUV, Hyundai Creta and the likes.
