A new test version of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has been spotted testing recently, and the spy image reveals a new split-LED headlamp on the motorcycle. The test bike was spotted in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, where the bike maker's production facility is located. It is likely that this is the BS6 compliant version of the Apache RTR 200 4V being tested. The LED headlight gets separate reflectors for low beam and high beam, but the daytime running lights from the current unit seem to have been given a miss. The feature will be a nice addition to the sporty motorcycle and will help the two-wheeler maker add more value when the prices go up for the BS6 version.

Apart from the new LED headlamp, it is difficult to say if the updated TVS Apache RTR 200 4V will get any design changes. That said, you can expect to see new decals, colour options and changes to the instrument console. It will be interesting to see if TVS will introduce Bluetooth-based smartphone connectivity on the Apache 200, taking a page out of the NTorq 125's book. The LED headlamp will also help differentiate the Apache RTR 200 4V from the Apache RTR 160 4V, with the latter being a bit too identical in design.

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V was last updated in 2018 with new styling and a slipper clutch

The biggest change will come to the engine on the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. The 197.75 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled motor will continue but is likely to be offered only in the fuel-injected version and will receive tweaks to meet the BS6 emission regulations. In its current set-up, the FI version churns out 20.4 bhp and 18.1 Nm of peak torque. The carburettor variant is likely to discontinue post the April 1 2020, deadline.

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V FI is presently priced at Rs. 1.10 lakh. This version though does not get ABS yet, which is only offered on the carb version and is priced at Rs. 1.11 lakh  (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). So, expect to see a substantial price hike when the BS6 version arrives, possibly by the end of this year or in early 2020.
