Tata Motors will be introducing an all-black edition of the Harrier compact SUV in August this year. The automaker announced the special edition version at the company's 74th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, while also making several strategic announcements for the future. The all-black version of the Tata Harrier is likely to come in the first half of next month and will bring a stealth-ready theme to the SUV. This includes a black paint scheme, black alloy wheels, faux skid plates while the chrome bits have been given a grey finish. Inside, the all-black treatment will continue with the new seat upholstery, while the wood inserts have been replaced by gloss black elements and grey accents.

The special edition has been announced just weeks before the launch of the Kia Seltos that is scheduled to go on sale on August 22, 2019. The Seltos is expected to be a market disruptor and Tata Motors is looking to maintain its early-bird advantage in the segment. This will be the second update to the Harrier since its launch in January this year. The carmaker introduced the dual-tone version of the SUV earlier this month on the range-topping trims.

Barring the all-black cosmetic upgrade, the Tata Harrier won't get any mechanical changes. The feature list is likely to remain the same as well including the touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, semi-digital instrument console, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, and more.

The Tata Harrier draws power from the Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that develops 138 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The automaker is working on the BS6 version that is expected to bring features like an electric sunroof and a new 6-speed automatic transmission too, sourced from Hyundai. There is also the seven-seater version in the works that was showcased as the Tata Buzzard at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
