Ducati may be working on a lightweight, special edition model of the Ducati Panigale V4, to be called the Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera. Latest spy shots show a near production-ready test mule of what seems to be a trimmed-down and lighter version of Ducati's flagship superbike. The Panigale V4 Superleggera will be the latest addition to the Ducati Panigale range, and will follow similar special edition models in the earlier Ducati Panigale 1199 and Ducati Panigale 1299 models. The Superleggera is a lighter version of the flagship Panigale model, and uses lighter parts with essentially the same engine as the standard model.
The Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera will be based on the Panigale V4 with lighter bodywork
Ducati will be using carbon wheels, as well as carbon fibre bodywork on essentially the same Ducati Panigale V4 platform to create a special edition model which will be much lighter than the standard Panigale V4. A revised titanium exhaust is also seen on the motorcycle in the spy shot. The new Panigale V4 Superleggera however, doesn't seem to use a carbon frame, as was used in the previous generation Panigale 1299 Superleggera. The aluminium frame of the V4 Superleggera seems to be the same as the one on the current Ducati Panigale V4R.
The Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera will likely be unveiled at Ducati's new product range, which will be unveiled on October 23, 2019, followed by a wider unveil at the EICMA 2019 Show in Milan, Italy, next month. Ducati is also expected to unveil the Streetfighter V4, along with the upcoming Multistrada V4, which are also likely to be revealed later this month.
