The Little Trail Bike Could Come to Life
Honda has been the unofficial arbiter of small trail bikes for a long time now. Well, honestly small-displacement bikes in general. Now the company is working towards bringing the CT125 Concept it showed off at the Tokyo Motor Show to market. Recently, the company filed trademark paperwork for the CT125 name, according to Bennetts. This is a pretty clear indicator that Honda is at least thinking about making this bike into a production model.
It makes sense. The small bike movement seems to be going well between the Grom, Monkey, and the new Super Cub. The CT125 Concept is basically a Super Cub designed and built for off-road trail riding. It’s a smart addition to the Honda lineup and one that probably wouldn’t cost the company that much to develop.
Honda already has the design aesthetic in the classic CTs from the 60s and 70s, and it has the modern powertrain and platform to use from the new Super Cub. The motorcycle features a pretty simple air-cooled 125cc engine with a semi-automatic clutch. This could make trail riding a lot of fun on the CT125 if Honda decides to make a production model. I hope the company moves forward with this bike. If so, I’ll definitely buy one when it comes out.
