It was in 2018 that Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA) launched the Roxor off-road side-by-side model in the continent. It is based on the Mahindra Thar and while it is not road-legal, it does seem to have takers in North America. And now, MANA has launched the 2020 Roxor with prices starting at $15,999 for the 5-speed manual variant. The 6-speed manual variant is priced at $16,999. The biggest styling update on the new Roxor is to the front end where seven-slat grille makes way for a new grille, which is quite similar to the Land Cruiser FJ series from the 1970s. There is a 'racetrack' like strip of metal which goes around the headlamps, giving it an old-school look.

One of the reasons why Mahindra chose to update the front end could be because Fiat Chrysler Auto had alleged that the design of the Roxor's grille up front is similar to that of the Jeep's iconic seven-slat design and claiming that the Mahindra Roxor infringes key characteristics of Jeep's signature trade dress - namely the "boxy body shape with flat-appearing vertical sides and rear body ending at about the same height as the hood."

In terms of mechanical bits, the Mahindra Roxor features a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine. The engine puts out a modest 62 bhp. The Roxor of course is available in left hand drive as is the norm in the United States and features a manual gearbox along with a traditional manual four-wheel-drive shifter. The claimed top speed is 88 kmph. The Mahindra Roxor is manufactured at the company's plant in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
