China's largest SUV maker, Great Wall Motor (GWM) has announced the debut of its India operations at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo. The automaker will be announced its presence in India on February 5, 2020, on the first day of the Expo and will share more details on its plans for the market here, along with the introduction of the Haval brand that retails SUVs. Great Wall will also hold the global premiere of the Haval Concept H that previews a new SUV from the manufacturer, while the Concept vehicle Vision 2025 will also be showcased. In additin, the automaker will showcase its range of SUVs including the Haval SUVs, GWM EV products, and innovations in intelligent safety, connectivity and advanced autonomous systems.

Speaking on the brand's India entry, Wei Jianjun, Chairman, GWM, stated, “This is indeed a proud moment for us as we are on the verge of entering the Indian automotive market. We are excited at the limitless possibilities that lay ahead as India is an important market for us. At GWM, we aim to set new benchmarks in the Indian automobile industry and hope to create an everlasting relationship with the discerning Indian customer. With the R&D center in Bangalore and now our participation at the 15th edition of the Auto Expo, we want to further ascertain the importance of India as the core strategic market.”
Great Wall will takeover General Motor India's older Talegaon plant and signed an agreement for the same on January 17, 2020. The plant is expected to be completely revamped to rollout Haval SUVs for India. GWM finds its footing in China from 1997 and has expanded its presence in over 60 countries with five regional centres located in Russia, Australia, South Africa, South America, and the Middle East.
