Bajaj Auto has announced that order books for the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250 have commenced across the country. The bike maker has also announced prices for the new motorcycles with both the bikes priced at Rs. 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Introductory). Sweden's Husqvarna brand made its India debut at the 2019 India Bike Week last December and the new motorcycles are tailor-made for the Indian market based on the larger Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401. The new Husqvarna bikes will be sold via the 400 KTM dealerships located in 275 towns pan India.

Speaking on the occasion Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto Ltd.said "The premium motorcycle segment has seen a strong growth in India over the last five years of almost 19% CAGR, with two broad classes of motorcycles - sporty high-performance motorcycles and lifestyle motorcycles with limited performance. The Husqvarna twins are superbly crafted and will be a game changer in the lifestyle performance segment. They offer a great package of superior dynamic performance and a unique Swedish design language. The Husqvarnas are meant for progressive riders who have an evolved taste, a strong  appreciation for style and don't want a compromise between performance and elegant design. We look forward to see Husqvarna replicate the success of KTM motorcycles by targeting a different and a complementary consumer segment."

The new Husqvarna bikes feature a neo-retro design language. The Svartpilen 250 stands for "Black Arrow" in Swedish and features a more upright stance and a Scrambler design language, complete with dual-sport tyres and a sump guard. The Vitpilen 250 stands for "White Arrow" in Swedish and has a cafe racer-inspired design. The handlebar is hunkered down low for an aggressive and sporty cafe racer stance. Both bikes get a retro-styled digital instrument console and share their underpinnings with the KTM 250 Duke, complete with the Trellis frame.
