Tata Motors launched the Nexon facelift last month and the subcompact SUV received visual upgrades apart from meeting the upcoming BS6 emission regulations. While the automaker revealed the model and its features then, engine specifications weren't shared. However, we finally have the updated spec sheet for the Nexon facelift and the interesting bit is that the BS6 petrol version makes more power than the BS4 model. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine now makes 118 bhp on the Nexon BS6, as opposed to 108 bhp on the Nexon BS4. The SUV is priced from Rs. 6.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Considering several vehicles have seen a drop in the power output when updated to BS6 regulations, the Tata Nexon facelift's power hike is a pleasant change. The three-cylinder turbocharged engine now makes 118 bhp at the same 5000 rpm, while torque remains the same at 170 Nm available between 1750-4000 rpm. Transmission options also remain unchanged with the engine paired to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT.
The new power figures are identical to the Hyundai Venue 1.0-litre turbo petrol that develops 118 bhp and 171 Nm of peak torque. The Mahindra XUV300 makes about 108 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque from its 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, but will soon get the new Sportz edition with the newly-developed 1.2-litre turbo T-GDI mStallion engine that promises 127 bhp and 230 Nm. While the Ford EcoSport does not get the 1.0-litre EcoBoost anymore, the 1.5-litre petrol is good for 121 bhp and 150 Nm.

In case you were wondering, Tata has not made power changes on the diesel version. The 1.5-litre Revotorq oil burner continues to produce 108 bhp at 4000 rpm and 260 Nm of peak torque between 1500-2750 rpm. The 6-speed manual and AMT continue to remain the transmission choices.
The Tata Nexon facelift sports a new grille taking design cues from Impact 2.0, while upgrades include a revised bumper, headlamps with LED DRLs, LED projector lens and new 16-inch alloy wheels. The SUV also sports reworked taillights with the new tri-arrow signature lights. The cabin has been updated with a host of new equipment including an electric sunroof, new fabric seat upholstery, and an updated infotainment system with iRA, vehicle locator, voice recognition and What3Words for enhanced navigation.
