With Bajaj Auto launching the electric Chetak, it was perhaps the right time for TVS to go the electric way. The TVS iQube Electric scooter was launched just days ago and happens to be the first time that TVS Motor Company forayed into the electric space. The TVS iQube Electric is a good move, we believe, for the company and it offers a bunch of features along with the 'green' factor too. Pricing & Rivals

The TVS iQube Electric is priced at Rs. 1.15 lakh (On-road, Bengaluru) and it will be available in just one variant. At that price, it goes up squarely against the Bajaj Chetak EV and the Ather 450. The Bajaj Chetak is priced at Rs. 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune) and prices for the Ather 450 start at Rs. 85,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Ather 450 range. The deliveries of the TVS iQube have already begun in Bengaluru and TVS will launch the electric scooter in other cities of India in a phased manner. One can also book the TVS iQube online through the company's website for a token amount of Rs. 5,000.
Battery, Motor & Range
The TVS iQube gets a 2.25 kWh lithium-ion battery along with a 4.4 kW motor. The scooter has two riding modes which are economy and power. The top speed of the iQube EV is about 78 kmph and it has a range of about 75 kilometres. The battery can be charged fully with the standard 5A charger in about 4-5 hours. The electric motor develops an equivalent of 6 bhp and 140 Nm and the 0-40 kmph sprint is done is 4.2 seconds.

Like most TVS scooters, the iQube Electric too is laden with features. Up first is the fully digital instrument console which is Bluetooth enabled and also gets TVS' SmartXonnect technology, which helps the rider to use an app and get access to the scooter's stats along with functions such as geo-fencing, navigation, over-speed alert and so on. Other features include all round LED lighting and a unique park assist feature called the Q-park. Plus, there is regenerative braking,
Cycle Parts
The TVS iQube electric scooter rides on 90/90-12 tyres up front and at the rear. There is a 220 mm disc up front and a 130 mm at the rear. The scooter is suspended on telescopic forks up front and hydraulic twin tube shock absorbers at the rear.
