The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift finally breaks cover and it gets a bunch of updates which include a new face, new and electrified engine options and more features. The E-Class, now in its 10th generation, was first introduced in 2016 and gets a significant upgrade now to keep it ahead of the curve and fend off competition from the Audi A6 and the BMW 5-Series. Coming to the design updates first, the new E-Class gets a new front end, with a slightly revised grille, getting the three-pointed star and newly designed headlamps, which now look in line with other Mercedes-Benz cars. The bumpers at the front and rear are new and look better and the tail-lamps too get a new design. Similarly, the AMG version of the E-Class now looks more muscular and the E-Class All-Terrain gets a design update which brings it closer in terms of looks to other Mercedes-Benz SUVs.

Globally, the E-Class now gets a total of seven engine options including plugin hybrid units along with petrol and diesel engines. There is a new four-cylinder mild hybrid petrol motor with an integrated starter generator (ISG) along with a 48-volt on-board electrical system. It will produce up to 20 bhp of additional output and 180 Nm more torque and will be on offer across the entire engine range.

Other updates include extensive revisions to the driving assistance systems and the E-Class range now gets features such as steering wheel hands-off detection, active distance assist, steering assist, active brake assist, active blind spot assist and a parking package which includes a 360 degree camera.
(The cabin has been significantly updated as well. The two 10.25-inch screens on the dashboard are standard fitments)
The cabin gets significant updates too. The dashboard will see two 10.25-inch screens, bonded together as one, the steering wheel itself is new and the MBUX infotainment interface now comes with Linguatronic voice control and augmented reality. You also get energising kinetic seats along with energising comfort control and power nap options. The kinetic seats can make micro adjustments to the backrest and the headrest while the comfort control offer music, ambient lighting and massage options. Plus, the E-Class range also gets a bunch of new upholstery options to choose from.
Globally, the deliveries of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class will begin in the summer of 2020 and we could expect the luxury sedan to come to India in the next one year.
