The prime purpose of the nationwide lockdown is for people remain indoors in a bid to fight against the novel Coronavirus. Social distancing is the only way to prevent the spread. The lockdown is one way of making sure that the citizens are safe unless it's mandatory for activities like purchasing groceries, medicines or any essential commodity. 'Stay home, stay safe' is the global slogan these days but even then there are a set of people who are not abiding by the lockdown instructions and endangering lives of their family members and those around them. Hence, trying to enforce the lockdown, in a rather bold move, the Karnataka Police has called a ban on the use of private vehicles in the state.

Bhaskar Rao, Commissioner Of Police, Karnataka took to twitter and said, "This is not an April Fool's prank. Two/ four wheelers are banned from use till the 14th of April. We will SEIZE your vehicle if you CEASE to ignore this lockdown regulation." The ban has been implemented in the state from April 1 and will be effective till the entire lockdown period, till April 14. Residents of the state have been advised to walk to the closest grocery or medical shop to make any purchase or their vehicles will be seized by the state Police and will be returned post the lockdown only.

In another tweet, Rao shared that until 7 pm on April 1, the state government had managed to seize 6321 two-wheelers, 227 three-wheelers and 304 four-wheelers and these vehicles will remain with the authorities till the lockdown period. Looking at the brighter side, after a long time a congested city like Bengaluru had seen unclogged city roads.
